WHY WE LOVE BEING THE FABRIC SUPPLIER IN CAPE TOWN
In the last decade the textile industry in Cape Town has endured blow after blow as more clothing manufacturing companies have favoured cheap imports over textiles supplied by local textile companies. Yet somehow, SK Textiles is still going strong. There are a few things we believe we have done right over the years.
LEVEL UP THIS LOCKDOWN WITH THESE SUMMER 2020 TRENDS
Summer 2020 will see demand grow for sustainable, eco-friendly material- natural, simple textures like white cotton poplin, embroidery anglaise and linens. Crinkled and wrinkled – unprocessed looking finishes are key. Soft handles in white and fresh fruity colours create a vintage feel alongside faded stripes and laundered looking textures. Simple and fresh looks drive a pastel collection of colours to casual cotton and rayons. Bright poplins find their way into summer to match the brightness of the day- coral and hot turq make an artful impact on the season.
WINTER 2020
The Look: androgynous, big shoulders, checked suits, miss-matched checks, and baggy pants, worn with trainers to create the urban look. Any check goes from old vintage checks to blanket checks, very big and bold, big and small hounds-tooth patterns, in knits and fleece, for jackets with thick stitching and frayed edges.
SPRING SUMMER 2019
The biggest trend we will see is ‘Summer Safari’. The colours we see in this trend are camels, fatigues, updated ochres and military. The Safari Shirt dress is an update on last year’s plain Shirt Dress. Cargo pants and Safari suits are made to look more rustic with cottons, linen blends and rayon twills. The cargo pants are also seen to be worn with the Victorian peasant blouse. Soft sweatshirts in poly spandex are seen for younger markets.
WINTER 2019
Print Party: this theme speaks for itself. Prints are still heavily trending. Animal skin, jaguar and leopard being bigger than ever in brushed fabrics, beautiful velour and warm cashmeres. Florals have become more opulent and some with a new twist of checks incorporated
SUMMER 2018
This summer is captured by soft pastels and vintage florals. Silky slinky dresses and romantic blouses with soft ruffles are the key trends creating a theme of sentiment. It’s all about femininity, expressed using sheers, tulles, teared skirts, frayed edges and peekaboo tops. Colours are gentle such as whisper light pastels, dusty rose, lilacs and sage greens. Mesh and sheer fabrics are key for this feminine theme.
